Oresome Gallery Presentation

Available Presentation Space

From now until the opening night of the End of Year Show, it is all planning, planning, planning and networking with the other New Media courses. Each of us have our own designated areas according to our disciplines, but it is all about trying to figure out what will go where and most importantly, where the bar will be going on the night!

I took a photograph of the work place which we Animators will be using to present our work – show reels, character sheets, sketchbooks, and any other relevant works – in order for each of us to have a reference to work from when designing each of our respective areas. As it stands, we are very happy with the idea of having a table each on which to show off our final pieces and contributing works. We will design each space accordingly, theming it around our Final Major Project animations.

WE HAVE THIS ROOM, AND THE ROOM YOU SEE BEHIND TO PRESENT OUR WORK…

The Stop-Motion Painting Begins!

FRAMES UPON FRAMES UPON FRAMES!

Well, so far so good on today’s progress! Managed to get a little bit of lettering done so far. There has been quite an issue with the tripod wobbling as I take the frames, but even then it does not detract from the animation itself that much. I’ve been using a small desktop-sized one which has been a real benefit for getting close-ups (If I would have used my other one, the zoom quality would not have been aesthetically pleasing…).

As it stands, I’m at 435 frames and counting. Looks like there is going to be  lot of fiddly editing coming my way in the next few weeks should I get the bulk of it finished during this week! My new laptop unfortunately doesn’t have a video editing program on it so it looks like it is going to be basic program on the home computer for tests and proper editing at University, which I do not mind at all!

Here are a few previews of what I have got done so far. I’m using standard acrylic paint on an A2 black presentation board (which I have had taking up space for a while now!). I was originally just going to use white, but I did not have enough to span the length of the project. So, economizing on what I have and being a bit crafty it is!

Sources of Inspiration – “Charlie Bears”

A few months ago, I went for a trip with my mother to one of the local Garden Centres. Upon arrival, we were met by an abundance of these fluffy and unusual teddy bear faces. “Charlie Bears” is fast becoming a popular brand amongst a wide spectrum of people. The high quality of the cuddly toys as well as the lovely vintage-yet-contemporary aesthetic really quite lovely.

After having a browse of which were on offer, I was inspired with some ideas for my Kittypillars, especially through the colour schemes of some of these bears. These bears have a very similar ‘look’ to the Kittypillars, in that there are some based on actual breeds of bear and some which are a bit more fantastical. I was really taken with the quality of the fur on these critters. The different consistencies and textures were fantastic.

I am definitely going to do a few Kittypillar colour tests based on some of these bears. Some of them are just too good not to have a bit of an artsy experiment with! Pictures to come soon, everyone.

Client-Based Practice Notes (18/10/2013)

It was a very brief catch-up session this week. We relayed several ideas back and forth to each other about where we were in terms of research and project development, and then went on our merry ways! Definitely going to be back to the grind after this coming Reading Week! I think the first thing we are all going to get cracking on when we get back are storyboards. They come first and foremost. Once we have them then we will be able to get together a definite idea of how we will link each of them together.

So, in case you can’t really read my writing in this post (this weeks notes feature particularly poor handwriting) here is everything I’ve written down:
